Research Methodology in Education

Overview of Learning

Research Methodology in Education is designed to teach learners about the field of educational research. This course prepared me to:

  • access educational research through the UBC library
  • critically analyze and evaluate published research
  • dig deep into educational research and understand how the research process applies to the field of education and educational technology.

We also completed a national research ethics tutorial Course on Research Ethics.

Reflection

This was my first MET course. In this course I developed a deeper understanding of the research process in quantitative, qualitative, and action research studies. When I started in the MET program, it had been several years since I had been registered as a part-time or full-time student and I was grateful for the foundational knowledge this course taught.

Research Analysis and Critique


Goal and Framework Alignment

This artifact aligns with the achievement of goal one and framework theme understanding. It demonstrates the ability to apply my learning of educational research to critically analyze and evaluate a reputable research study and to draw conclusions about its validity. This is foundational learning for any graduate program.

Next Steps

This goal is a stepping stone for the process of my personal life long learning journey. It’s imperative to have the ability to analyze and evaluate reputable research. There is so much media and communication out in the world, one must be able to know how to determine fact from fiction.
